Kimball FFA attends nat'l convention

The Kimball FFA has put the "Boots On" and kicked off a great start to the new year.

National Convention

Six FFA members and their advisor Ms. Nelson joined the more than 50,000 at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. FFAer's participated in radio interviews, the career expo and college fair, toured the Indianapolis Speedway, and went to the Rodeo where they got autographs of the rodeo cowboys and Purdue Dance team. Members also enjoyed sessions where keynote speakers including Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton imparted wisdom "when you fall, get back up" and "the only true disability is a bad attitude".

FFA Member Andrew Kieke received his American Degree, the highest degree in the FFA. The National FFA Organization has more than half a million members and remains as one of the largest youth organizations in the United States.

Horse Judging Saddle up!

The Kimball FFA Horse Evaluation Team is headed to State Competition! The team won the region Horse Evaluation contest by a sustainable 37 points and will advance to state competition in April. Individually, Senior Erin Wicker was 1st in the contest, Sophomore Miranda Albert placed 7th, and Freshman Joelle Edwards was 19th. Hannah Ehlinger, 7th grade, was 23rd overall and high individual in the junior high contest. The team is coached by Advisor Tracy Nelson.

Forestry Team

Senior Ashley Angier and Freshman Sami Reinert and Seahara Mancini represented the Kimball FFA in the region forestry contest Saturday, Oct. 10. The contest was held at Lake Carlos State Park near Alexandria. The team finished 8th and will not advance to state competition. The forestry contest consists of tree, tool, and wood identification, timber cruising, log scaling, chainsaw practicum, and a written test.

FFA Trap and Skeet Shoot

Kimball FFA members Dustin Mancini, Matt Donnay, Isaiah Ehlinger, Samuel Ehlinger, and Tommy Lochen competed in the GFW Invitational Trap and Skeet Shoot Competition. The Team finished third of 19 teams in the Trap Contest. Individually Matt Donnay was 15th in the Trap Shot and Samuel Ehlinger was 16th in the Skeet Shoot. Trap shots 3 rounds of 25, while Skeet shots one round of 25 from 8 different stations.

Fruit and Meat Sales

The best fundraiser of the year is here! Support the Kimball FFA Fruit and Meat sales. FFA members offer a wide variety of apples, oranges, grapefruit, and pears. Along with delicious Smoked Knaus Turkeys and Summer Sausage and cheese gift boxes from First District in Litchfield. Check out the school website for a full list of offerings.
