To our friends in the community:
After many months of work, the electronic sign is finally fully functional. We sincerely thank the community organizations for their donations and commitment to this project. It truly was a community project with almost every organization in town contributing. Special thanks to these organizations for contributing:
Kimball Chamber of Commerce
Kimball Area Fire and Rescue
Kimball Lions Club
Kimball American Legion Club
Kimball All SSports Boosters
Kimball Rod and Gun Club
St. Anne's Church
St. John's Lutheran Church
Kimball Wrestling Boosters
This sign will promote community events for many years to come. However, we must recognize that this will be an on-going commitment to support the maintenance of the sign.
The purpose of the sign will simply be to promote events for non-profit Kimball community organizations as well as to promote school events. It is not for businesses to advertise. If there is any question as to whether a message should be allowed on the sign, it will be brought to the sign committee to decide. The sign committee is made up of individuals from various Kimball organizations. Anyone who would like to be part of the sign committee can contact Steve Maus by e-mail
We will be continuing to fund-raise in order to cover maintenance and to start a fund for the eventual replacement (hopefully many years from now) of the sign. We are also going to ask organizations that wish to use the sign to contribute an annual fee of $150. This fee will give the organization 10 one-week slots of messages. Messages can be purchased for $20 after the initial 10 one-week slots are used. However, organizations that contributed $1,000 or more to the construction of the sign will be given a grace period through 2014. Organizations that contributed $500 to $999.99 to the construction of the sign will be given a grace period through 2013. Any organization that wants to use the sign can contact Steve Maus by e-mail
, to join.
To list a message on the sign, you must e-mail kdptyclerk@
meltel.net. We ask that only one person from each organization be a consistent contact for this. On your e-mail, please list exactly how the message is to read and the dates that you would like the message to run.
Mr. Linn's art class submitted several quality designs to be featured atop the new sign. From these, the committee chose one disigned by Kelsey Theisen. Kelsey was given $50 in Kimball Cash for being the winning designer.
Again, we would like to thank you for the commitment to this project. We are proud of our sign and are excited for its future. This is evidence of how a community working together can achieve a greater good.
