Dan Martens honored at conference

U of M Extension dean honors Dan Martens and other team members at annual conference

University of Minnesota Extension Dean Bev Durgan presented the Private Pesticide Applicator Recertification Team; which includes Dan Martens, the Stearns, Benton and Morrison Counties Extension Educator in Agriculture-Crops; with the Dean's Award for Distinguished Team Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the organization's annual conference.

The award honors the Private Pesticide Applicator Recertification Team with Pesticide Safety and Environmental Education.  The Private Pesticide Applicator Recertification program team reaches farmers who have not historically been involved with Extension's Integrated Pest Management training. In partnership with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, the team helps farmers learn to make better decisions about managing pesticides and pesticide-resistant insects, weeds and diseases. This program supports the need for up-to-date information that benefits the safety and security of their families, their communities and the environment.
