The Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball cross country team competed at the Litchfield Invitational meet Thursday, Oct. 4.
It was cold, windy and the competition was tough. Teams competing were Annandale, Albany, Orono, Maple Lake, Hutchinson, Sauk Rapids-Rice,Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball, Litchfield, Cambridge-Isanti, Glencoe-Silver Lake, Maple Lake, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, and New London-Spicer.
In the girls' varsity race, Raelynn Callander placed 12th with a time of 16:24, Denzel Atherton 32nd-17:27, Malina Röettgermann 36th-17:52, Grace Kopitzke 48th-18:18, Brooke Winter 59th-18:57, Madison Libbesmeier 64th-19:16, and Taylor Schreiner 67th-19:23. As a team, the EV-W-K girl's varsity placed seventh.
In the girls' JV race, Kendra Atherton placed 29th with a time of 19:47, Maria Roeser 30th-19:48, Stephania Roeser 31st-19:49, Hannah Ehlinger 44th-20:37; Seahara Mancini 45th-20:38, Lauren Libbesmeier 61st-22:36, Paiten Schreiner 69th-22:58, Erica Johnson 71st-24:42, and Cheyenne Sogge 72nd-24:42. The EV-W-K girls' JV placed sixth as a team.
In the boys' JV race, Brett Mattice placed 19th with a time of 19:42, Tyler Neu 57th-20:53, and Cameron Flaschenreim 95th-25:56.
In the boys' junior high race, Matthew Notch finished the 2000-meter race in 9:50.
All the EV-W-K runners did a good job, even with the cold and windy conditions.
