A reminder to all Stearns County residents that the property tax deadline is fast approaching.
The second half of the 2012 real estate tax is due and payable next Monday, Oct. 15, 2012. This is the last day to pay the second half without penalty. The Agricultural Property tax deadline is
Nov. 15, 2012.
To make paying taxes more convenient, Stearns County has several payment options:
Over the internet on Stearns
County's web site at www.co.stearns.mn.us; click on "Property Taxes Due;" E-Check or credit card accepted.
ACH payment plans either a quarterly or over a 10-month period, automatically deducted from a checking or savings account. Call (320) 656-3870 and ask for the Direct Payment Plan.
In-person at either the Stearns
County Service Center in Waite Park, at 3301 County Road 138, open Mon.-Fri., 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., or at the Treasurer's Office in the
Stearns County Administration Center, Room 136, in downtown St. Cloud, open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mon.-Fri.
A mailed payment must be postmarked by the post office, not a private postage meter machine, no later than Oct. 15 to avoid penalties. Late payments will be returned to the taxpayer if the proper penalty is not included. State law does not allow any exceptions. Penalty rate information is shown on the reverse side of the tax statements. To ensure proper credit, return the stub portion of the tax statement along with a check or money order.
