PIERZ-After the first two games of EV-W's volleyball game at Pierz Thursday night, it looked like the Eagles would return home with their unblemished conference record intact That was not the case, however, as the Pioneers rallied to win the next three games to hand EV-W its first loss in the Central Minnesota Conference.
The Eagles took the first two games 25-19 and 25-20. The Pioneers won the next two games 17-25 and 15-25. It all came down to the first game which turned out to be a nail biter with Pierz prevailing 13-15.
The loss dropped EV-W to 3-1 in the CMC and 10-5 overall.
Senior Clarissa Roy went 28-36 hitting with 12 kills. Kaylee Forcier, meanwhile, was 23-37 hitting with 12 kills She was also 16-17 serving, and had 14 digs. Courtney Dilley was 26-30 hitting with 10 kills.
From the serving line, junior Jamie Scherer was 16-17 with one ace while Holly Schumacher was 16-17 serving with two aces. Schumacher also had 40 set assists.
