Foggy morning fatal car crash; theft, and bar burglary



Kimball man dies in foggy crash

Tuesday, Dec. 13, at about 5 a.m., Stearns County Sheriff's Office received a report of a single-car crash at CR 142, 1.5 miles NE of 207th Street in St. Augusta. The caller and another passer-by were attempting first aid on the driver of the vehicle. St. Augusta Fire/Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance were dispatched with the Stearns County Deputies.

The deputies found a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup in the north ditch. Rescue workers tried to revive the unresponsive driver, but were unable to do so and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It appeared that the pickup truck was travelling northeast on CR 142 when the driver lost control and entered the north ditch and collided with a tree.

The driver was later identified as Joseph Salzbrun, 52, of Kimball. He was not wearing a seat belt, and the airbags did deploy. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.

Pickup truck stolen in Cedar Mills

Saturday, Dec. 10, at about

1:43 a.m., the Meeker County Sheriff's Office took a report of a stolen vehicle from the Cedar Ballroom & Edge Bar & Grill located in Cedar Mills. The vehicle is described as a 2006 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck. The pickup had been left unlocked in the parking lot with the keys in the ignition. The stolen pickup was later found about one-and-a-half miles north of Cedar Mills on 620th Avenue, in the ditch. The pickup had left the roadway, rolled into the ditch and was a total loss. The stolen pickup and accident is currently under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office is asking for assistance from anyone who may have information concerning this incident.

Burglary at Goat Ropers Bar

Saturday, Dec. 10, a burglary at Goat Ropers Bar in Farming was reported to the St. Cloud Sheriff's Office. Some time between 2 and

8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, someone had entered the business. Several undisclosed items were taken during this burglary. The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.

Wright County Sheriff's Office

Dec. 5, Timothy Weber, 37 of Annandale, was arrested in Buffalo on an Annandale Police Department warrant for third-degree controlled substance and a probation violation.

Dec. 10, Brittany Jean Stute, 21 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of disorderly conduct.

There were 19 property-damage accidents, 6 personal-injury accidents, 8 hit-and-run accidents, and 5 car-deer accidents.

There were 5 arrests for DWI,

3 underage-consumption arrests,

1 school bus stop arm violation, and 141 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations issued this week.

Monday, Dec. 12

12:31 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on 707th Avenue, Kimball. The deputy mediated the situation.

3:32 a.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of suspicious calls at a residence on 375th Street, Watkins. The deputy advised the individual of their options.

Sunday, Dec. 11

5:36 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a suicidal threat at a residence on 700th Avenue, Kimball.

5:54 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a civil complaint at a residence on Meeker Avenue North, Watkins. The deputy advised the individual of their options.

6:30 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Gold Cross Ambulance, per the request of Stearns County Sheriff's Office, for a personal injury accident in the area of MN Highway 15 and MN Highway 24, Kimball. Watkins Ambulance was later dispatched to the scene along with Gold Cross Ambulance; both were canceled prior to arrival.

7:22 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a possible violation of a harassment order occurring at a residence on State Street North, Eden Valley.

Saturday, Dec. 10

7:38 a.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of a scam attempt on 380th Street, Watkins.

9:26 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical on Central Avenue, Watkins. One individual was transported to

St. Cloud Hospital.

10:12 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and contacted Hutchinson Police Department for Hutchinson Ambulance for a vehicle roll over on County State Aid Highway 15, Dassel. One individual was transported to Hutchinson Hospital.

5:13 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a driving complaint that occurred on CSAH 34, Watkins. A deputy located the driver and warned the individual of the complaint.

6:45 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a car/deer accident in the area of 355th Street and CSAH 2, Watkins. The deputy made contact with the driver who was able to continue on his way.

7:28 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a driving complaint in the area of CSAH 2 and 355th Street, Watkins. The deputy located the vehicle, made contact with the driver who was advised of the complaint and given a warning for seatbelt violations.

Friday, Dec. 9

10:06 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to issue a deer possession tag at the intersection of CSAH 15 and 213th Street, Dassel.

6:23 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a civil issue at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Court, Watkins. The deputy spoke with the parties involved and there were no further issues.

10:27 p.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on White Street South, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

Thursday, Dec. 8

1:39 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Cedar Avenue North, Watkins. One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

8:42 a.m. the Sheriff's Office, per the request of Stearns County, dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at an address on Linden Avenue, Kimball. One individual was transported to Buffalo Hospital.

12:11 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of theft from a residence on 360th Street, Eden Valley.

1:53 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a noise complaint at an address on Stearns Avenue East, Eden Valley. The information was relayed to the Eden Valley Police Department.

11:17 p.m. the Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of MN Highway 55 and 617th Avenue, Eden Valley. Eric Clarence Lantto, age 25, of Eden Valley, was arrested for fourth degree driving under the influence.

Wednesday, Dec. 7

12:04 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a business on Luella Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to

St. Cloud Hospital.

7:41 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at an address on CSAH 19, South Haven. One individual was transported to

St. Cloud Hospital.

11:43 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Gold Cross Ambulance, Litchfield Fire/Rescue, Dassel Rescue and Watkins Ambulance for a two vehicle accident at the intersection of MN Highway 24 and CSAH 34, Litchfield. Five individuals were transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital. The Litchfield Police Department assisted and the MN State Patrol is investigating.

12:59 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of juvenile trouble on Brooks Street North, Eden Valley.

3:09 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at an address on Luella Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to

St. Cloud Hospital.

9:06 p.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to a dog complaint at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. Upon arrival of the deputy everything was found to be okay.

10:41 p.m. the Sheriff's Office received a report of an alarm at a business on Central Avenue North, Watkins. It was found to be a false alarm and everything was okay.

Tuesday, Dec. 6

3:59 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted with a property exchange at a residence on 725th Avenue, Kimball.

Monday, Dec. 5

8:29 a.m. the Sheriff's Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 73rd Avenue, Kimball, in Stearns County. One individual was transported to the Buffalo Hospital.

3:07 p.m. the Sheriff's Office took a report of possible child abuse at a residence on 1st Street, Watkins.

6:49 p.m. the Sheriff's Office assisted the McLeod County Sheriff's Office at an address on Church Street, Watkins.
