Denby Kielty of Watkins died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. He was 93.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 11, at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Fr. John Brunner officiating. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and 8-10 a.m. Friday. Rosary will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, parish prayers at 6 p.m., and American Legion prayers at 7:30 p.m. at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
Denby F. Kielty was born Oct. 9. 1916, to Bernard and Mary "Minnie" (Stalkamp) Kielty in Watkins. He married Adeline "Pat" Ludwig Oct. 17, 1938 in Eden Valley. They resided in Watkins where Denby was employed as an auto mechanic at Theis Bros. Chevrolet for 19 years before health difficulties forced him to retire in 1961. Denby served in the United States Army in the Philippines during World War II, and was a 60-year member of the Watkins American Legion Post 453. He was also a member of the Watkins Senior Citizens, and he volunteered as a Boy Scout leader for many years. His hobbies included gardening and playing cards, and he enjoyed baseball, hunting, ad fishing. Denby especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Denby was preceded in death by his parents; wife Adeline "Pat" Kielty; brother Gerald Kielty; sister Leila Theis.
He is survived by his children Ron (and Judie) Kielty of Maple Grove, Dave (and Bev) Kielty of Brooklyn Park, Mary Kay Kielty of Watkins, Joe Kielty of Brooklyn Park, and Dale Kielty of Watkins; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother Ken (and Cindy) Kielty of Cedar Rapids.
Music will be by Kathy Pauls. Casket bearers are Mike Kielty, Dan Kiety, Scott Kielty, Ben Groteboer, Paul Ludwig, and Ken Lutgen.
