Unveiling of new fence murals in Dassel, Aug. 26
Eight new fence murals will be unveiled in Dassel, Sunday, Aug. 26, 2 p.m. at the Dassel History Center. There will be a short program, and refreshments will be served.
This is Phase II of a project that began with five murals painted by artists with Dassel connections and installed in 2010.
Artists of new murals include include Nate Haapala, St. Paul; Ken Hanson, Jr., Cloquet; Bill Monson, Minneapolis; Christine Bickmann, Cokato; Geoff Welles, Howard Lake, and Elisabeth (Wilde) Schmieg, Shara (Anderson) Marquez and Lonny Jensen, Dassel.
Three of the artists are graduates of Dassel High School: Haapala in 1968, Hanson in 1964, and Monson in 1966. Marquez and Schmieg are graduates of Dassel-Cokato High School in 2001 and 1997 respectively. Bickmann and Welles both teach art in the
DC schools, and Jensen is a Dassel resident.
