Tuesday, July 31, at 3:27 p.m. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office responded to a robbery call at the Quality Plus Gas Station/Convenience Store in Meire Grove. The clerk reported that one man entered the store and demanded cash. The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect did not display a weapon or threaten the employee.
During the course of the investigation, deputies followed up on information and leads obtained from witnesses and video surveillance equipment making it possible to identify the car used and the suspects. Wednesday, Aug. 1, the Sheriff's Office arrested Matthew Dehncke of Paynesville, age 21, and booked him into Stearns County Jail for the offense of aiding and abetting a robbery. The Sheriff's Office is continuing to look for a second white male who was involved in the robbery and believe he has fled the state.
During their flight from the scene, the suspects threw from their car, a fluorescent green/yellow hooded sweatshirt. The sweatshirt had a construction company logo on the upper left chest area. It is believed that the sweatshirt was tossed from the car somewhere south of Albany. The Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating and recovering that sweatshirt. Anyone with information on the location of the sweatshirt is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at (320) 251-4240.
