The Watkins elementary building has most of the glass installed, and primer applied to the walls. The prep phase for terrazzo flooring is complete, and a lot of excavation and dirt work is being prepared for the parking.
The Eden Valley elementary building has interior walls, primer, and plans for painting in the near future. The exterior brick and masonry work is close to completion. The most recent improvements have been made to the cafeteria heating and ventilation systems.
The secondary site is prepared for the footings to support the 10-foot chiller walls. We anticipate the chiller walls and services for the cooling system to receive a lot of attention next week. Demolition of the performance stage has been completed, and we anxiously anticipate the contractors will begin laying block for the office and restrooms in the near future.
A Great School
During a recent Minnesota School Board Association (MSBA) training phase, 75 school board members from Minnesota were asked to choose eight quality indicators for a great school. After generating a four-page list, the board members were asked to work together and agree on their top indicators for a great school. Following is their list of
Eight quality indicators that make a great school:
1. Teachers who are well-trained, effective and believe all students can learn
2. Technology is readily available to support instruction
3. Community and business involvement in the school
4. A wide range of academic offerings
5. Facilities and physical space is clean
6. Provides a safe environment
7. High graduation rates
8. Strong leadership
Is the list similar to what we see as quality in our district?
