6th annual baseball league to begin Aug. 25
Just wanted to pass on the word about the 6th Annual Fall Baseball League, which is the only league of its kind in the St. Cloud area, will begin Saturday, Aug. 25. The league will emphasize the fundamentals of the game and it is designed to help players in grades 3-12 hone their skills and get more baseball-playing experience. League runs on Saturdays:
Aug. 25, Sept. 8, 15, 22, and 29.
The Husky Fall Baseball League is a chance for players to extend their summer baseball season by 5 weeks. Players will participate in a 45 to 60 minutes of practice and skill work before each game. This will be led by the SCSU Coaching Staff. A two-hour sandlot-style (non-instructional) game will take place after the training session. Games will begin at either 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. (schedules TBA). That is a great opportunity to make some fall memories.
The league will offer four separate leagues: Rookie League (3rd-4th grade Coaches' Pitch), Minor League (5th-6th grade), Mid Major League (7th-8th grade), and High School League (9th-12th grade).
Last year more than 300 players across the state competed in the Husky Fall League.
"This just really says something about the commitment level of the baseball players in St. Cloud, Central Minnesota and the sounding area. We had players from Bemidji to the Metro area. It's great to see this many players excited to continue their baseball seasons in the fall," said camp director and SCSU Head Baseball Coach Pat Dolan.
All teams will be limited to just 10-14 players, so everyone is guaranteed plenty of playing time and an opportunity to play at various positions. Game T-shirt jerseys will be provided for each participant in the league.
The cost for the Saturday fall league is: Team with their own coach $100 per player, Team with SCSU coach $125 per player, Individual player $150. Teams MUST register through the mail as a group. To register as a team, you must have a minimum of nine players.
