Get fit, stay fit, and have fun with the most outrageous fitness dancing anyone can experience. Zumba® Fitness and Toning are both energy-boosting, and attitude-changing workouts. Find a class near you, try it out, and fall in love.
"Zumba is the first exercise that I have participated in, in a long time, and it didn't even feel like exercise. It has turned into a wonderful escape for me," said Heidi Rostberg, the Zumba instructor in Watkins. This Latin-inspired dance turns into a calorie burner within minutes.
Rostberg said, "My favorite thing about Zumba is the sweat. Man, do we sweat, and I always leave class feeling like I've just been to a dance party."
Through all the sweat and laughter, a lot can happen. Rostberger has lost 20 pounds in doing these exhilarating movements for a year. Her goal when she started Zumba was to be a healthy mother for her children. She feels stronger then ever through Zumba, and it shows on her face during the workouts.
Zumba has different settings and programs depending on its participants. There are aqua classes done in a pool setting. Zumba Gold is a program for 55 years and older, and Zumbatomic is a program for children up to 12 years old. "I would recommend Zumba to anyone, at anytime, and anyplace possible. Anyone can find the class for them. I promise they won't be disappointed in themselves," said Rostberg.
There is a class from 7-8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and occasionally weekends, in Watkins at the Fire Trak facility that Rostberg teaches at. Anyone can become a friend on Facebook with Zumba At Fire Trak. Here "friends" can get updates on classes and information on something that is going on during the week along with encouragement to continue to do more classes.
This great body builder comes at a price, though. Depending on where you go, it can vary. It's more expensive to participate in a bigger city like Minneapolis, but that's because the facilities are more expensive to rent. In Watkins they charge $5 per session, with the option of a 10-punch card for $40, which in essence gives you two free classes.
From head to toe, Zumba will work your entire body, that's what makes it such a great program. Even if someone doesn't know how to dance or know any Latin moves. They should just give it a try! Even a drive and desire to join into the music will move their bodies to the beat. It's not just for ladies either, men can join in on the fun as well.
This fitness phenomenon will move peoples' feet into a groove, and they will never want to stop. Try it out, or ask someone about it! More information can be found at zumba.com. Join in the fun!
