Our first program for the season will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6. It will be "Egg Coffee and Newton".
Come enjoy a cup of coffee made on the original Harkin Store stove and some Newtons, while looking at the 1870s original store with 40 percent of the original merchandise still on the shelves. The Harkin Store is located in the once thriving riverboat town of West Newton. The store is the only thing left of the town.
It is located on the Minnesota River, nine miles northwest of New Ulm on Nicollet County Road 21, or the bottom road, or nine miles east of Fort Ridgely.
Throughout the season the store will be having programs of various kinds on Sundays from
1 to 4 p.m. The store is operated by Nicollet County Historical Society, for more information contact (507) 934-2160, or week-ends, the store at (507) 354-8666.
The store is open for larger scheduled tours during the week, but the store hours for May are Saturdays and Sundays from
10 to 5 p.m.
There is an admission charge to the store which does include the program.
