The Kimball Cubs traveled to Brooten to take on the number one-rated Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars last Friday night, Feb. 17. The Jaguars jumped out to an early lead by a score of 8-0 in the first three minutes of the game. The Cubs knocked down a few shots over the next six minutes, but still trailed the Jaguars 23-8. B-B-E kept pouring it on as they led by 29 at the break (44-15).
In the second half, it was much the same. B-B-E led by 38 halfway through the second period. The Cubs could not get any sort of comeback going, and lost by a score of 76-36 to the top 1A team in the state.
For the game, the Cubs shot 22 percent (13/59) from the field and 56 percent (9/16) from the free-throw line. Kimball was outrebounded by a 50-23 margin. The Cubs committed only 11 turnovers on the night. Camer
on Hunt was the leading scorer with nine points. Austin Ruehle and Jarred Merchant each had eight. Merchant and Hunt were the top rebounders with six apiece. Four different players had two steals each. The Cubs are now 6-13 on the season and 2-8 in the Central Minnesota Conference.
