Shirley Ann Marquardt was born Nov 15, 1934, in South Haven to Alex and Ida (Schmidt) Marquardt. She lived all her life in the Fair Haven and Kimball area. Shirley graduated from Kimball High School with the class of 1952. Shirley and Darrel Wills were married Jan. 15, 1955, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in South Haven. She worked for Bell Telephone Company in Minneapolis for several years, and later Shirley worked 17 years as a secretary for Kimball Area Schools.
Shirley and Darrel traveled to many interesting places. She especially enjoyed going on camping trips with her granchildren. Shirley loved rummage sales, the swapper's meet, and collecting old dishes and teapots. She liked to paint and stencil, and to spend time gardening. She loved to do whatever her grandchildren were doing. She was involved in a variety of activities in both her church and community.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Marquardt, and son and daughter-in-law Robert and Pamela Wills.
She is survived by Darrel, her husband of 57 years; sons Steve (and Cindy) Wills and Doug (and Julie) Wills of Fair Haven, and Tim (and Doreen) Wills of Kimball; nine grandchildren: Nicole, Jason, Jesse, Michael, Brian, Chad, Courtney, Dustin and Megan; three great-grandchildren: Vayda, Aiden and Lily; sister Arlayne (and Charles) Hunt of Fair Haven; and sister-in-law Audrey Marquardt of Kimball.
Shirley's grandchildren will be honorary urnbearers, and music for the service will be provided by Joyce Albert and Lori Miller. Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
