Mark Swart of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012. He was 44.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls, Iowa, with Rev. Bob Miller officiating.
Mark Duane Swart was born Nov. 22, 1967, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Duane and Susan (Kurth) Swart. He graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1986, and Ellsworth Community College in 1987. He went to the University of Iowa in 1995, and then went on to Iowa State in 1996, graduating in 1997, with a degree in Agriculture Management. Mark was united in marriage to Michele (Shelly) Hendrickson Feb. 8, 2002, in Key Largo, Fla. Shelly is the daughter of Bob & Nancy Hendrickson of Kingston. Mark was passionate about farming, deer hunting, the outdoors, and spending time with his family at the home he built on the Iowa River. He is loved and will be missed by many.
Mark was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, and maternal grandparents.
Mark is survived by his wife Michele (Shelly) of Steamboat Rock; his son and daughter at home Jake Swart and Cheyenne Swart; his parents Duane and Susan Swart of Iowa Falls; two brothers John (and Tina) Swart and their children, Nathan and Eric of Gilbert, and Dale Swart and his daughter Brenna of Iowa Falls.
Pianist for the service was Marian Smith. Casketbearers were Mike Broer, Shaun Frerichs, Keith Spangler, and Robert Warner.
A memorial fund has been established for Mark's children, and may be directed to his wife Michele.
Arrangements were by Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls.
