Kimball fourth-grade girls take consolation championship



The Kimball fourth-grade girls' basketball team played in their first ever organized tournament Saturday, Feb. 11, and discovered how exciting tournament basketball can be. Kimball first played a talented Upsala squad that would end up in the championship game later in the day. Kimball played tough defense, trailing only 2-0 at halftime, but the game would end with Upsala on top by a final score of 9-5. Kimball had numerous shot attempts bounce out resulting in a first round loss. Moving into the consolation bracket, Kimball bounced back by beating Holdingford by a score of 12-6, as they found their offensive groove. Next, KimballÊwould faceÊOsakis who defeated Pierz to get to the consolation championship. The young Cubs and Osakis battled right to the end in a very exciting game. Kimball made the big plays in the end, and won by a score of 12-9 to capture the consolation title. Congratulations to these young Cubs as they continue to improve during their first basketball season.
