Eugene Danielson of Eden Valley died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. He was 56.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eden Valley with Rev. Samuel Morsching officiating. Visitation with family was held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. The interment of the urn followed the service at the All Saints Lutheran Cemetery in Darwin.
Eugene John Danielson was born Nov. 8, 1955, in Litchfield to Dale and Arneldia "Nellie" (Blomker) Danielson. He grew up in the Dassel and Darwin areas where he graduated from Litchfield High School. He then attended Willmar Vocational Technical School where he received his degree as a diesel mechanic. Eugene was baptized at the First Lutheran Church (Gethsemane) in Dassel, and was confirmed at the All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin.
Gene worked for several construction companies during his career. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and reading. Gene loved history and knew where every monument from the Sioux uprising was in Meeker and McLeod County. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, loved to work with his hands, he enjoyed watching sports, and nature shows. He always had a dog that was his best friend. His family and his faith were important to him.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father and infant brother Kevin.
He is survived by his mother Arneldia "Nellie" Danielson of Eden Valley; siblings Sharon (and Michael) McAnnany of Port Wentworth, Ga., Linda (and Lonnie) Venske of New Germany, and Thomas Danielson and Bill Hauge of St. Louis Park; niece Kathryn (and Donald) MacDonald of Bel Air, Md.,nephews Sean McAnnany of Purcelville, Va., Timothy McAnnany of Bowie, Md., Patrick McAnnany (and Sonya) of Pasadena, Md., and Ryan Venske of Chaska; great-nieces Kaeli MacDonald and Sara McAnnany, and great-nephew Alexander MacDonald and his 'best friend' Sadie. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
