Betty Boehl of Paynesville died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the St. Cloud Hospital with her family present. She was 64.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. A visitation was held two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial was at Eden Lake Cemetery in Eden Valley.
Betty Jane (Vogelpohl) Boehl was born July 20, 1947, in Paynesville to Irwin and Lena (Blomker) Vogelpohl. She grew up on the family farm in the Eden Lake area where she attended a small country school. Betty attended and graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1965. After high school, Betty attended beauty school.
In 1969, Betty was united in marriage to Wesley Boehl. They were blessed with one son. Betty and Wes were later divorced. Betty worked for Champion Milking from 1988 to the present. She was their office manager. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. She served on the flower committee there, and was a former member of the Sarah Circle. Betty was active in the Paynesville Relay for Life, raising money for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, collecting Teddy bears and angels, and she loved Dachshunds. Betty's coworkers will remember how her smile brightened their day.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Vince, Marvin, vernon, and Jim, and sister Vera.
She is survived by her son Charles of Oak Park Heights; sister Marie Vogelpohl of Paynesville; brothers and sisters-in-law Marcella Vogelpohl, Joyce Vogelpohl, and Jim Myllykangas; and many nieces and nephews.
