The Red Cross Blood Drive Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Watkins was successful as 59 units of whole blood and 11 units of double red were collected. Thanks to all the donors for giving the gift of life. Thank you to those who encouraged someone else to come. Unfortunately, we did not get the number of new donors, but it was great to see new faces as well as our faithful donors. Thanks again.
These individuals reached new milestones and received a pin: Ron Stang for 1 gallon, Mary Ann Weber for 3 gallons, Mike Hunt for 4 gallons, and Mike Grunewald for 5 gallons. Congratulations!
Many volunteers and organizations helped to make everything run smoothly. Thank you to the Journal Patriot, Tri-County News, city of Watkins, area businesses, and the churches for promoting the drive. Thank you to those who readied the hall, loaded and unloaded the truck, helped greet and register donors, helped in the canteen area, prepared the lunch for the workers, and cleaned and reset the hall. Also, thank you to the organizations that provided or paid for food. They were the Watkins Lions, American Dairy Association, and St. Anthony Social Concerns.
Thank you to the Red Cross nurses who worked so efficiently so there was little wait time.
If you could not come to the drive at Watkins, you have the opportunity to give at Eden Valley or Kimball early in 2012. Check the newspapers for the exact date. Make a difference, donate.
