Irene Faber of Watkins died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. She was 95.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Fr. John Brunner officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. Parish rosary will be at 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by parish prayers at 6 p.m.
Irene M. Ressemann was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Richmond, Minn., to Joseph and Rose (Fischbach) Ressemann. She married Edmund Faber Aug. 26, 1937. They farmed in Watkins until Edmund's death in 1980. Irene moved into the city of Watkins in 1986, and she became a resident at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins in October 2006.
Irene was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins and was active with the quilting group. Her hobbies included quilting, embroidering, crocheting, and she enjoyed playing bingo and cards, and watching Twins baseball.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edmund, son-in-law Kenneth Utecht, and sisters Dorothy Weber, Ida Theilen, and Bernetta Niewind.
She is survived by her children Ione Utecht of Crystal, Kenneth (and Lorraine) Faber, Duane (and Mary) Faber, Richard (and Carol) Faber, all of Watkins, and Janet (and Dennis) Otto of Brandon; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister Adella Theis of Eden Valley; brothers Roman Ressemann and Ralph (and Sally) Ressemann, all of Richmond.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the staff at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins for the excellent care given to Irene during her five years there.
