Marilyn Schreiner of Sauk Centre died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at St. Cloud Hospital. She was 71.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Fr. John Brunner and Fr. Todd Schneider officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and a prayer service there at 10 a.m.; another visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Watkins.
Marilyn A. Hansen was born July 17, 1940, in Delavan, Minn., to Leo and Ann (Kasper) Hansen. She married Lloyd L. Schreiner Aug. 26, 1961, in Iona, Minn. They lived in Crystal, Minn., for 35 years, Cross Lake, Minn., for five years, and in Sauk Centre since 2003.
Marilyn worked as an x-ray and lab technician, and she worked for Chicago Cutlery and for Physician Services in Minneapolis; but mostly she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Sauk Centre where she was active with the Visitation Chapel. Her hobbies included baking, quilting, traveling and camping, and decorating for the Holidays. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, and she was proud to have shared birthdays with her first grandson.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, son Paul Schreiner, infant brother Leo Hansen Jr., her uncle Orville "Bud" Stoderl who raised Marilyn, and nephew Jim.
She is survived by her husband Lloyd of Sauk Centre; children John (and Lisa Truchinski) Schreiner of Champlin, Minn., Ann (and Bryan) Basden of Pearland, Texas, Mark (and Dr. Stephanie Rice) Schreiner of Plymouth; four grandchildren; and her special family: aunt Monica Stoderl of Iona who raised Marilyn, and Monica's daughter Carol (and Randy) Eisfeld and their Daughter of Westbrook, Minn.
