Joyce Haag died peacefully at her Eden Valley home Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011. She was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eden Valley with Rev. Victor E. Dorn officiating. Burial will be in Eden Lake Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Eden Valley, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
Joyce Marie Hartwig was born March 27, 1933, in Twin Valley, Minn., to Williamd and Clara (Wendling) Hartwig. She lived her entire life int he Eden Valley area. Joyce was married to Vernon Haag Feb. 14, 1953, at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Litchfield; he preceded her in death Feb. 2, 2009.
When Joyce was younger, she worked at the Litchfield Ice Cream Shop. She spent all her married years working on the farm with Vernon. Later in life, she worked at Senior Dining in Eden Valley and Watkins. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, making tie blankets, playing cards, embroidering, and visiting with friends and neighbors. More than anything, Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, parents, and six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her children: Barbara (and Tom) Finken of Watkins, Vern Jr. (and Lisa) Haag of Buffalo, Debra (and Dennis) Laidlaw of Montrose, Dan (and Patti) Haag of Big Lake, Diane (and Wayne) Zych of Beardsley, and Rich (and Christine) Haag of Big Lake; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
