Thursday, Oct. 6, at about 3:17 a.m. the Meeker County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call for a car on fire just north of the intersection of 330th Street on CSAH 2 in Forest City Township. Upon the arival of the Sheriff's deputy, there was a fully engulfed pickup truck on its roof and on fire. Two young men were found to have been ejected from the pickup before the truck caught on fire. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The young men were identified as 21-year-old Kevin Young of rural Watkins, and 24-year-old Nathaniel Stenger of rural Watkins.
Sheriff's deputies have determined that the red 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound on CASH 2, and went partially off the road at the intersection of 330th Street, where the truck then flipped and rolled multiple times, ejecting both men before the truck came to its rest on CASH 2 and caught on fire. This incident is still being investigated by the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.
