Joseph Fleischhacker of Watkins died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. He was 56.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Fr. John Fleischhacker officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. Parish Rosary will be Sunday at 4 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Watkins.
Joseph J. Fleischhacker was born July 4, 1955, in St. Cloud to Richard and Clotilda (Kalthoff) Fleischhacker. Joe was united in marriage to Karen Kohnen Oct. 28, 1978, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe, Minn. They lived in Watkins and Joe was employed by R.M. Johnson in Annandale for 22 years and was plant manager until health difficulties forced him to retire. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. His hobbies included motorcycling, hunting and fishing. Joe especially enjoyed spending time at his hunting land up north.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph and Anna Fleischhacker, and John and Gertrude Kalthoff; and his mother Clotilda Fleischhacker.
He is survived by his wife Karen Fleischhacker of Watkins, father and step-mother Richard and Eileen Fleischhacker of St. Martin; brothers and sisters Ruth (and Jim) Hormann of Paynesville, Dennis (and Charlene) Fleischhacker of Richmond, Karen (and Joe) Becker of Eden Valley, Donna (and John) Porter of Puyallup, Wash., and John Fleischhacker of Eden Valley; step-brothers and step-sister Tom Van Nurden, Jr. of Ludowici, Ga., Bill Van Nurden of Hanover, Md. and Joanne Hatten of Sauk Rapids.
Casket bearers are Donnie Kohnen Jerry Schmit, Scott Able, Sherman Gross, Eric Schwartz, Steve Windroth, and Ronny Oster. Honorary casket bearers are Katie Bechtold, Katie Jarmon, D.J. Kohnen, Kayla Fleischhacker, Alicia Jones, and Angela Fleischhacker-Williams.
