Fun, free event for seniors is Aug. 20

Stroll through the ninth annual Expo for Seniors from 8 a.m. to

1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Whitney Senior Center, 1527 Northway Drive, with keynote speaker O'Neal Hampton, former contestant on The Biggest Loser. This free event provides seniors and adult children with information on senior resources available in Central Minnesota.

The expo features 95 health care, housing, finance, fitness and safety vendors along with free lunch, health screenings, door prizes and music by Country Pride Band.

The event heats up with "Healthy Choices for 1 or 2" by Chef Bill Niemer from 8:30-9 a.m. in Clemens Hall. No longer cooking for the whole family? Chef Niemer will present on healthy meal choices with less quantity. Chef Niemer held the position as Vice President of Academics at the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Mendota Heights. He currently serves as the executive chef and Food & Beverage director for Chanhassen Dinner Theaters.

At 10 a.m., learn how "It's Never Too Late!" to improve your health and lifestyle from O'Neal Hampton. After Hampton and his daughter, SunShine, from Minnesota were on NBC's hit show "The Biggest Loser," he continued his newfound healthy lifestyle and vowed to pay his fortune forward. Now more than 170 pounds lighter, Hampton has made good on his promise to help others looking for a healthier lifestyle. He recently established the O'Neal Hampton Wellness Foundation in an effort to bring health and wellness education and support to all people seeking a healthier, more balanced and quality lifestyle.
