Stearns County kicks off 'Staycation' photo contest
There are many fun and exciting things to do in Stearns County. With the high price of gas and increased cost of travel, many are taking advantage of the entertainment, beauty and relaxation in their own backyards. They're taking a "Staycation," a vacation close to home.
Stearns County wants to see photos from residents of their "Stearns County Staycation." Whatever it may be, snap some pictures, or pull ones already taken, and participate in Stearns County's photo contest. It's an opportunity for residents to show the world what they did on their vacation in Stearns County ... and possibly win a fantastic prize package donated by area businesses valued between $50 and $250.
There are so many things to do on a Stearns County Staycation, like:
* Explore the outdoors through camping, swimming, fishing and hiking.
* Take the family to a zoo, farm or park.
* Check out local festivals, theaters and museums.
* Cheer on a favorite baseball team.
* Enjoy restaurants, bakeries and farmers markets.
* Shop-hop through area cities and towns.
* Have fun at ceremonies, celebrations and other gatherings.
* Relax at a local hotel or bed & breakfast.
* Even enjoy your own backyard.
* How about a little of everything?
Whether photography is a passion, hobby, or an occasional pastime, everyone can participate in this photo contest.
So help promote the County on Stearns County's website. It's a chance to publicize the community you love, or the things important to you.
All pictures meeting the criteria will be displayed in the County's online photo gallery. Photographers of the top 10 photos submitted will each receive a great prize package featuring activities and fun things to do in communities across Stearns County. To see a list of all the generous prizes donated by area businesses, go to the Stearns County website at www.co.stearns.mn.us. Winning images will be featured on the home page of Stearns County's website. Photos will be on display in the rotunda of Stearns County's Administration Center and could also appear in brochures and other materials promoting the County.
To submit a photo, go to the Stearns County website at www.co.stearns.mn.us. Citizens have through Aug. 31, to submit their photos. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded the week of Sept. 12-16.
Images will be judged on creativity, originality, photo content and relevance to the "Stearns County Staycation" contest theme. Photo quality will be a secondary consideration. The only requirement: the Staycation activity must be in Stearns County.
