What a day we had at the blood drive in Watkins Wednesday,
July 27. In spite of the hot weather, we had a great turnout, and
67 units were collected, exceeding our goal by six units. Thank you to all of our repeat donors, to the seven first-time donors, to all who walked in, and to those who encouraged someone else to come.
Those earning pins were Daniel Dockendorf and Rosie Nistler-
3 gallons, Alan Dockendorf-4 gallons, Alan Geislinger-5 gallons, Jim Wirz-6 gallons, Reuben Geislinger-8 gallons, and Joe Rathmann-12 gallons. Thank you and congratulations.
Many volunteers are needed to make the drive successful Thank you to those who promoted the drive: the organizers, telephone recruiters, poster distributor, the Journal Patriot and the Tri-County News for the wonderful advertising, the churches for bulletin coverage, the City of Watkins for marquee and hall use, and to those who readied the hall.
Thank you to all those who helped the day of the drive: the volunteers from the community who helped unload and load the truck, those who registered donors, canteen helpers, those who prepared the food for the workers, and to those who cleaned up and reset the hall. Thank you to the following organizations who provided food or workers: the American Dairy Association, Watkins Lions, Catholic Aid Association, St. Anthony CCW and Social Concerns.
Thank you to the Red Cross workers who worked efficiently to make the drive run smoothly.
If you could not come to Watkins, you have the opportunity to donate at Kimball Wednesday, Aug. 3, or at Eden Valley Tuesday, Aug. 16. Make a difference, donate.
