Leo Donabauer died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at his Kimball home. He was 90.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. with memorial services held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Kimball United Methodist Church with Rev. Marilee Benson officiating.
Leo Joseph Donabauer was born Feb. 9, 1921, at St. Joseph to Leopold and Margaret (Reisinger) Donabauer. He married Dorraine M. Schaefer Nov. 23, 1944, at Holy Angel's Catholic Church in St. Cloud, and since 1962, they have lived north of Kimball. He worked for Great Northern Railroad, and then for 32 years, he was a nurse's aide at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Leo also worked many side jobs, such as mowing lawns and fixing almost anything, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Leo was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Donabauer; sister Bertha Klein; brothers Herman, Bernard, Al, Val, Daniel, Florian "Timmy," and Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorraine of Kimball; 11 children Karen Seth of Maple Lake, Jim (and Sherry) of South Haven, Dale of Sutter, Calif., Nancy Herges of Kimball, David (and Sue) of Kimball, Sharon (and Donald) Lommel of Clear Lake, Joy (and Donald) Mathies of Richmond, Alan (and Linda) of Oak Park, Richard of Stanchfield, Roy (and Carmen) of St. Joseph, Lisa (and David) Silbernagel of Kimball; sisters Hildegaard Schneider of Foley, Rose Michalski of St. Cloud, Tillie Lacken of Harker Heights, Texas, and Joan Wruck of St. Cloud; 24 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
