Saddle up for the Buffalo Hospital's Bike Rodeo from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in Buffalo Hospital's Surgery Center parking lot.
Buffalo Hospital's emergency department is teaming up with Buffalo Police, the Wright County Sheriff's Office and the St. Michael Fire Department to help children learn the importance of bike-riding safety. "The Bike Rodeo is going to be a fun event to teach and remind children to be safe while having fun on their bikes," says Buffalo Hospital's emergency department patient-care supervisor Margo Binsfield. "We often treat children in the emergency room after a bike accident, and it can be scary for the child and the parent. If a child hits his head on a sidewalk or street, there is potential for a brain injury."
Children can bring their bikes and enjoy many fun activities, including learning the rules of the road, a bicycle obstacle course, helmet fittings, carnival games and prizes and lunch. Buffalo Hospital also will provide free bike helmets to children who need them, while supplies last. The Bike Rodeo is entirely free, thanks to donations from many community businesses and the United Way.
