Donations made to shooting sports

The Crow River Area Chapter of the Minnesota Deerhunters Association recently donated $300 to the 4-H Shooting sports program. Also, a donation of $500 was given to the Eden Valley-Watkins School for purchasing archery equipment so that they can join the National Archery in the School Program. "This is a program that lets kids try it out and see what they can do and is for those who are not into the normally sponsored athletics, but all students are encouraged to try it out," said Kevin Midtling, president of the Crow River Chapter. "We have also supported this program for both senior high and elementary schools in Litchfield, and in the Hutchinson school district."

The program within the 4-H promotes education in shooting and natural resource concepts. It teaches 4-H students how to safely handle firearms and archery equipment and the responsibilities associated with shooting. "The Crow River Area Chapter supports programs like this because a lot of kids don't have access to learning how to safely handle the firearms and archery equipment." said Midtling. "We also contributed to two 4-H students in Sherburne County who are going to the national championships. The 4-H shooting sports Kick-off is at 6 p.m. Thursday,

May 12, at the Grove City Gun Club. It will be held rain or shine, please reply by e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
