We have been very busy in the ECFE and preschool programs. Play and Learn School is wrapping up this week, and we are taking registrations for next year's preschool program.
We are looking forward to our summer program for families. "Summer Animals" is the theme this year. Each year we select a theme to make exciting and creative learning happen. Who doesn't like animals of summer? Fish, bugs, reptiles, and amphibians, Yay! Don't forget the not-so-real species, like dinosaurs and dragons. This is a wonderful time to introduce school to your preschool child. This is a mixed age group, so the whole family can attend. Jenny Moe and Maggie Lundorff will again team up for fun. It's great to have kids get to know their preschool teacher (for EV-W district) and be a student in the classroom they will have in the fall (Kimball district).
Summer Animals will meet in Kimball from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesdays, June 7, 14, 21, and 28. A repeat of this class will meet in Watkins 9-11 a.m. on Thursdays June 9, 16, 23, and 30.
Our outreach class will be in the grassy area near the Eden Valley Mobile Home Park on Thursdays from 12:15-1:15 p.m. beginning June 9, 16, 23, and 30. This class is a drop in class, so no registration is necessary. Come each week to learn about animals, practice colors, numbers, taking turns, and playing with all kinds of sensory toys.
Our program is designed for age 0-5, however, in the summer, we try to plan for the older siblings to enjoy their trip to school for their little sisters and brothers. To that end, we plan activities that are open-ended so that kids up to third or fourth grade can use their creativity to go the next step with our materials. A few years ago, with this principle in mind, we had pretzel rods and frosting to create an "up north" cabin. The theme was Minnesota Kids. Guess who was left at the table, designing, adapting and building long after the kids left? THE DADS! So we sometimes don't even realize that we are thinking about the whole family until we see them in our classrooms.
We hope that many families take part in this fun weekly outing with the family. Call now to register.
