Meeker Cooperative Light and Power Association celebrated its 76th Annual Meeting by hosting a pork roast dinner for 875 members and guests Monday, April 11. During the business portion of the meeting, CEO/General Manager Tim Mergen presented the results of a recent member survey, which gave Meeker Co-op high marks for overall performance, particularly with regard to reliability.
"We will use this information in our strategic planning as a guide for future decisions," Mergen said. "We appreciate all the members' comments. It's not important what the employees or directors say about Meeker Co-op. It's important what you, the member who pays the bills, has to say about the Co-op."
Incumbent directors Juanita Olson, District 1 and Mark Larson, District 6 were re-elected to a three-year term on the Meeker Co-op Board of Directors. Challenger Karen Becker was elected to the District 2 seat formerly held by incumbent David Ruhland.
Besides the annual Bingo challenge, a baking demonstration featured Litchfield newspaper columnist and co-owner of 4-B'z Event Center, Bev Barrett, shared recipes and tips for creating one-of-a-kind Easter treats. During the event, the Electric Trust Board distributed $10,220 of Operation Round Up- funds to 20 nonprofit organizations in Meeker's service area. Great River Energy, one of Meeker Co-op's power suppliers, also donated $1,000 to the Co-op's Operation Round Up program.
