The Kimball girls' basketball team had their 2010-2011 season-ending banquet Thursday, March 17, at the Kimball Area High School. At the banquet, the players, coaches, and families gathered to share in the memories provided by the seasons that just ended. The C-squad, coached by Joe Krippner, consisting of freshmen Alexis Rose, Hollie Donnay, MacKenzie Dammann Eighth-graders Ashley Bauman, Danielle Helgeson, Hannah Serbus, Kristina Kastanek, Maddie Gasper, Madelyn O'Brien, Nicole Vossen, and Victoria Denn lacked experience at this level, but measured their season on improvement and player development throughout the season and did a wonderful job. The Junior Varsity Squad coached by Gary Reiss consisted of sophomores Raelynn Callander, Alissa Jones, Casie Mackereth, Kenadi Mackereth, Breanne Meierhofer, Kaylee Petty, Paiten
Schreiner, Allie Seth, Hannah Zipoy, and juniors Sam Stuve and Kayla Overland. The JV Squad finished with a strong 16-8 season record, as they prepare for their future varsity level careers. The varsity team enjoyed the first winning season since the 2002-2003 season. The girls finished with a 14-12 record, 7-7 in the CMC, earned a #3 seed for the Sub Section 5AA Playoffs, won their home playoff game before the season ended on a heartbreaking 49-47 loss in the Sub Section Semifinals. Season individual award winners were recognized as follows: Team leader in steals was Rachel Arnold (88 steals), highest free throw Percentage was Liz Kastanek (74 percent), hustle award winner was Klarissa Eisenbraun, leading scorer (298 points) Mandy Wittenberg, leading assists (70 assists) Rachel Arnold, and leading rebounder (209 rebounds) Mandy Wittenberg. Kimball had three all-conference selections with Mandy Wittenberg being named First Team All Conference, and Rachel Arnold and Megan Garding being named Second Team All Conference. Wittenberg and Garding were also named to the All Sub Section 5AA Team. CMC Academic All Conference selections were Rachel Arnold and Erin Dingmann. Spotlight on Scholarship Silver winners are Brooke Merten, Kayla Overland, Liz Kastanek, Natalie Stein, and Sam Stuve. Spotlight on Scholarship Gold winners are Mandy Wittenberg, Breanne Meierhofer, Erin Dingmann, and Rachel Arnold. There was one new record this season as Erin Dingmann tied a school record of three-point field goals made in one game with five against Swanville on Feb. 4. CMC athletes of the week award winners throughout the season were Megan Garding, Mandy Wittenberg, and Rachel Arnold. Congratulations go out to all members of this seasons team as everyone involved help make this season a successful one with much hard work and dedication, while making a big committment to the entire program. We wish the seniors, Shannon Donnay, Klarissa Eisenbraun, Megan Garding, and Natalie Stein good luck and thank them for helping make Kimball girls' basketball a great experience. Go Big Blue!
