Leonard Schultz of Waconia died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in Waconia. He was 98.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with Rev. Robert Alsleben officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Leonard G. Schultz was born March 18, 1912, to Herman and Martha (Witt) Schultz in Bismarck Township, Winthrop.
He played the accordion and harmonica, he also enjoyed listening to music, especially old-tyme music. He was a craftsman, being a jack-of-all trades, and he loved his job. Leonard was always telling a good joke. He enjoyed going fishing and taking vacations to northern Minnesota.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Alpha Redmond and Olivia Borth; and brothers Benjamin Schultz, Clarence Schultz, and Vernon Schultz.
He is survived by his loving wife Martha; son Norman (and Karen) Schultz of Fridley; daughter Shirley (and Todd) Reid of Waconia; grandchildren Karl Schultz, Marcus Schultz, Kelly Reid, and Kristy Reid; brother Ralph (and Della) Schultz of Brownton; sisters Adeline (and Melvin) Litzau of Glencoe, Bernice Bierstadt of Gaylord, and Inez Alsleben of Glencoe; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Hilde and Helmut Knapp of Germany; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Casket bearers were Lowell Litzau, Mark Schultz, Doug Schultz, Larry Litzau, Roger Schultz, and Paul Schieck.
Honorary casket bearers were Karl Schultz, Marcus Schultz, Kelly Reid, and Kristy Reid.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
