The Dassel-Cokato Arts Association proudly presents the Lake Wobegon- Brass Band at the Dassel-Cokato Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, a concert that is sure to chase away those winter blues!
Think Scott Joplin and ragtime; think Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, do a little "Bridge on the River Kwai" whistling, and then listen as the band pulls out all the stops in a performance of Paganini Variations by Philip Wilby. Toss in a few marches and familiar well-loved tunes, and you have a concert that is a guaranteed audience-pleaser!
Lake Wobegon- Brass Band is comprised of music educators and professional musicians and is proud to have many of the original members still playing with the band. The group is sponsored by the Anoka Brass Band Association, Inc., and Anoka-Ramsey Community College, Coon Rapids. For more information about the Lake Wobegon- Brass Band visit
Reserved Seat tickets are $15/adults and $5/youth, and are available in the Dassel-Cokato Community Education office, or by calling (320) 286-4120. Tickets will also be sold at the door prior to the concert, beginning at 6:30 pm. Visit www.dc.k12.mn.us/pac for more information.
This popular brass band was formed in 1992 to showcase the unique sound and style of the British brass band's instrumentation. The group has toured the United Kingdom on two occasions and gave the first-ever performance by an American brass band at the 120th Sandringham Flower Show in 2001.
On July 4, 2009, the band was also honored to participate by invitation in the 35th anniversary show of "A Prairie Home Companion-" with Garrison Keillor. The band played three selections in the production before a live audience of an estimated 8,000 people in Avon, Minn., as well as to the millions who tuned in to Minnesota Public Radio nationally and internationally.
