The meeting was called to order by member Helgeson at 6:00 p.m. with all members except Zipoy and Stenger present. Member Stenger arrived at 6:07. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all in attendance.
Gagnon/Schreiner approved the agenda as amended. MC
The request for a third field trip by 4th grade was discussed. Schreiner/Dockery approved the additional trip for 10-11 with removal of the lunch and movie components of the request. MC
Celebrations included a great winter sports season; elementary music program for grades 4-6; 194 high school students on the A or B honor roll; local Spelling Bee winner Ted Zipoy with Caitlin O'Brien second and Hannah Hendrickson third; I Love To Read month is going well with many activities at the elementary.
Mr. Widvey reported on Student Registration Guide for 2011-2012 being brought to the March board meeting; the upcoming Project Lead The Way grant providing for a group of six math, science, and technology teachers to attend a workshop to plan which courses will be made available to students through the grant funding, and Maria Donnay has received the ExCEL Award for 2010-2011.
Mr. Houseman gave an update on the Climb Theater bullying production; PIE has now made a donation to allow K-2 to also be a part of the activities for that day, giving all students K-6 the same opportunity. The MCAII testing is coming up soon with tutoring available for students. Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for March 10th from 6-8 p.m. Conferences were well attended with 90-95 percent participation.
Mr. Tritabaugh reviewed upcoming meetings: 2/18 Ð SEE, 2/23 Ð Health & Safety, 3/16 Ð Benton-Stearns Education District, Stearns County Family Services Collaborative, possible Meet & Confer, and the next Regular Board Meeting at 6:00 p.m. The Food Service contract will be going out for bids this spring. Each member received certificate in honor of Board Member Recognition Week February 21-25.
The Superintendent is proposing a new fee structure for all-day every-day kindergarten tuition. The proposed structure would set the full tuition at $150 per student per month with a sliding fee based on family income qualifications. Schreiner/Gagnon approved these new rates effective with round-up for 2011-2012 Kindergarten enrollment. MC
The administration has been working through a planning process, trying to prioritize needs of the district. At this time computer labs, media center desktop computers, the door access system, a number of athletic items, and some roofing needs are the top priorities for the upcoming year.
Mr. Tritabaugh will be out of state February 18 through the 23rd.
Committee reports included Benton-Stearns Education District Ð Helgeson, Activities Committee Ð Helgeson. Member Stenger/Schreiner approved adding Dockery as a third Activities Committee representative. MC
Communications included a memorial card and a thank you card from the Frank Bernardy family.
Dockery/Stenger approved the listed bills in the amount of $144,095.88. MC

Approve minutes of January 19, 2011 Board Meeting
Accept donation of $452.58 from Wrestling Boosters (in July) to cover their portion of the cheerleading program for the current school year
Accept donation of $790.08 from Wrestling Boosters covering the cost of transportation for the Wrestling team to attend the Frazee tournament in December
Accept donation of $400 from the 5th Grade Student Activity fund for the purchase of a Math Scanner
Accept donation of $690 from Kimball Sports Boosters toward the purchase of a new popcorn machine
The treasurer's report was reviewed and discussed.
Stenger/Gagnon accepted donation of weight equipment and platforms donated by Doug Joseph and Rob Bryce. MC
Dockery/Gagnon to accept the letter of resignation for the purpose of retirement received from Jerry Meyers, elementary custodian, effective June 30, 2011, with a huge amount of appreciation for 41 years of dedicated service that could not have been easy! MC
Gagnon/Stenger to approve track coaching assignments: Chris Rossman Ð Assistant, Lisa Brown Ð Jr. Hi. MC
Stenger/Schreiner to approve assistant speech coach assignment: Co-Assistants Ð Luke Nelson and Amanda Kuseske. MC
Stenger introduced the Resolution Providing That School Board General Elections Held After 2009 Shall be Held in the Even-Numbered Years; Establishing a Transition Plan. Seconded by Schreiner. Roll Call Vote: All voted in favor.
Helgeson shared results of the District Survey that had been open to various groups and individuals. The survey shall be opened up to more community members before the board meets on March 15 at 5:30 for an additional planning session.
It was noted that Knowledge Bowl has the need for some equipment and supplies. The district has Gifted and Talented funds available for these needs.
Dockery/Stenger to accept the Project Lead The Way grant. MC This grant will provide $65,000 in funds over a three-year period in the areas of Science and Technology.
