Cubs drop conference game to Rockets

The Kimball Cubs boys' basketball team traveled to Rockford last Friday night, Jan. 21, to take on the Rockets. The Cubs jumped out to an early lead behind the strong post play of Dillon Menson. Rockford's interior play gave Kimball problems of their own and allowed them to get back into the game. At the half, the teams were tied at 41.

The second half remained close. The Cubs found themselves ahead by one, 57-56, with five and a half minutes to play. Rockford retook the lead and was ahead by two with just over a minute remaining. The Cubs had to foul late in the game and the Rockets made their free-throws to post a 76-71 conference win over the Cubs.

The Cubs placed four scorers in double figures on the night, Menson (25), Neil Helgeson (14), Brett Ostby (12), and Cameron Hunt (11). Hunt also dished out nine assists. Dillon Menson led the rebounding effort with six. The Cubs are now 3-3 in Central Minnesota Conference play.
