EV-W-K track and field tops conference



The 5A Subsection 17 meet was held Tuesday, May 21, at the Annandale High School track.

EV-W-K took first place in several events: girls' 4x800-meter relay, girls' 4x200-meter relay, boys' 4x200-meter relay, girls' 1600-meter run, girls' 400-meter dash, girls' 4x400-meter relay and girls' pole vault.

EV-W-K individual first-place through eighth-place results were: girls' 4x800-meter relay - first place in a time of 10:09.44 - Tanya Maciewjewski, Kelsey Vigoren, Molly Hesse, and Justine Hilsgen.

The boys' 4x800-meter relay team finished third - time 9:32.57 - Kirby Knutson, Nathan McCann, Manuel Baumann, and Mitchell Fischbach.

In the girls' 100-meter hurdles Holly Erickson finished fifth in a time of 17.77.

Nathan McCann finished sixth in the boys' 110-meter hurdles in a time of 17.64.

In the girls' 100-meter dash, Macki Nelson finished sixth in a time of 13:86; Ryan McCann finished second in the boys' 100-meter dash in 11:66.

The girls' 4x200-meter relay team took first place in a time of 1:52.60.

The boys' 4x200-meter relay took first place in a time of 1:36.55.

Justine Hilsgen finished first in the girls' 1600-meter run in a time of 5:34.76, and Tanya Maciejewski was sixth with a time of 5:56.78.

The girls' 4x100-meter relay team finished third in a time of 55.10. The boys' 4x100-meter relay team also finished third.

Rachel Arnold took first place in the 400-meter dash in a time of 101.87. Alex Meis took second in the boys' 400-meter dash in a time of 54.30 and Taylor Breauchy finished seventh in a time of 57.61.

Jared Capes finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 44.81.

Renee Berg finished eighth in the girls' 800-meter run in a time of 2:44.48 and Kirby Knutson finished sixth in the boys' 800-meter run in a time of 2:18.65.

In the girls' 200-meter dash Samantha Stuve finished third in a time of 29.32 and Morgan Meyer finished fifth in a time of 29.97.

In the boys' 200-meter dash Travis Erickson finished second in a time of 24.02.

The girls' took first place in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:16.65. The boys' 4x400-meter relay finished fourth in a time of 3:50.51.

Morgan Meyer placed sixth in the girls' long jump, with a jump of 14 feet 4 3/4 inches. In the boys' long jump Travis Erickson placed sixth and Ryan McCann placed eighth with jumps of 18 feet 7 1/4 inches and 18 feet 1 inch.

Rachel Arnold took fourth place in the girls' triple jump with a jump of 30 feet 5 inches, and Tiffany Kuechle placed eighth with a jump of 28 feet 8 inches. Jake Ruhland took third place in the boys' triple jump with a jump of 38 feet 5 1/2 inches.

Justine Hilsgen took third place in the girls' high jump with a jump of 4 feet 10 inches.

Macki Nelson took first place in the girls' pole vault with a vault of 9 feet. Nicole Klein took fourth place with a jump of 7 feet and Samantha Stuve tied for sixth place with a jump of 6 feet.

In the boys' pole vault Danny Lochen took second place with a vault of 9 feet 6 inches and Jake Linn placed fifth with a vault of 8 feet.

In the shot put, Sarah Messer took fourth place with a throw of 32 feet 1 1/2 inches and Shawny Kramer took fifth place with a throw of 30 feet 1/2 inch.

In the girls' discus throw Shawny Kramer placed fourth with a throw of 101 feet 2 inches, Sarah Messer placed fifth with a throw of 97 feet 8 inches, and Nicole Klein took sixth place with a throw of 88 feet 8 inches.

In the boys' discus throw Scott Babbitt took third place with a throw of 119 feet 9 inches.

Overall the girls placed third and the boys fifth.

Top four individuals in each individual event and the top two teams in the relays will be moving on to the Section meet at St. John's University Wednesday, May 27.

The student athletes and the coaching staff have put a lot of effort into their success this spring. Great job and good luck at the Section meet.
