(Washington, DC) U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann (MN-06) today released the following statement: "Each year, on April 15th, individuals and families foot the bill for Washington's excessive and wasteful spending habits. This year, it also marks the day that hard-working Minnesotans start earning for themselves instead of for the tax man. According to an analysis by the non-partisan Tax Foundation, today is Tax Freedom Day in Minnesota. Nationally, that date was just two days ago, on April 13th. "It is clear that Americans have had enough of Washington's reckless tax-and-spend policies, and today across the nation, they will demonstrate their frustration through nationwide Tea Parties, including several in Minnesota. Unfortunately, Democrats in Washington seem oblivious as they continue to pass record-high budgets and spending bills. "Personal liberty and economic liberty are inextricably entwined. You can not have one without the other. When the government spends and taxes, it is your liberty that gets chipped away. I applaud the patriots who are rallying today for their freedoms, and I will continue to stand with them in their effort to stop the hemorrhaging of tax dollars in D.C."
