Scholarships to Kimball Area High School seniors will be awarded at the annual "Dare to Dream" Gala planned for May 16. Kimball Area Dollars for Scholars was formed in 1995 by a group of community-minded citizens who wanted to encourage Kimball graduates to further their education at a technical, community college, or university. The organization is funded only by private donations from the general public and area organizations. It also raises money for scholarships through its annual Gala held in May each year. Donations of scholarships in honor or memory of someone are also encouraged. Each organization/person giving a scholarship sets up the limitations of the scholarships, that is, for a student planning to study music, a language, nursing, one interested in community service, etc. The students complete only one application for all scholarships awarded through the chapter. The scholarship committee chooses a suitable candidate for that award. Not all scholarships are awarded, if no candidate is eligible. To date, nearly $200,000 has been awarded in scholarships to Kimball Area High School graduates through your caring and generosity, plus the efforts of the many volunteers who contribute many hours of work to the Gala. If you are a parent of a Kimball student, you are encouraged to become involved in the chapter. It meets once a month, September-June. The meetings generally take only about an hour.
