John Kling of Watkins died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. He was 84. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ostmark Lutheran Church in rural Watkins with Rev. Melinda Melhus officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church. John A. Kling as born Feb. 14, 1925, in Forest City Township, Meeker County, to John W. and Esther M. (Dahlgren) Kling. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an assistant to the chaplain. John farmed in ForestCity Township and served as the church organist at Ostmark Lutheran Church for more than 50 years. John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Winston Kling. John is survived by his brother Vendell "Red" Kling of Crystal; nieces and nephews, Charles (and Joyce) Kling of Coon Rapids, Edward (and Lori) Kling of Chanhassen, Karen (and Jim )McCarthy of Litchfield. Urn bearers were Charles and Edward Kling. Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
