The Lady Cubs played their final two regular-season games at home with the first being against Pierz Tuesday, Feb. 24. The Pioneers brought a lot of pressure and intensity, taking control of this one early, as they took a 12-point halftime lead and finished with a 51-33 win. Junior Tesslynn Callander led Kimball scorers with 11 points and secured seven rebounds in a great effort. Senior Emily Straley had seven points and 16 rebounds, playing tough on the boards. Sophomore Megan Garding had 5 points and freshman Brooke Merten had 5 points with four steals, while sophomores Natalie Stein and Shannon Donnay each had 2 points and junior Kelsey Vigoren had 1 point. Thursday, Feb. 27,Kimball hosted Holdingford on Senior Night, where seniors Emily Straley, Paige Peglow, and Sarah Powell would put on the home-blue uniforms one last time for Kimball. The Cubs played as if inspired against a tough Husker ball club, keeping the game within reach as Kimball trailed 31-21 at the half. In the second half, Kimball could not cut the lead any lower than 9 points, as Holdingford secured the win down the stretch by a final score of 58-37. The Kimballseniors scored more than half of the Cubs points on the night, with Straley having 12 points, Powell with 4 and Peglow with 4. Merten finished with 6 points, Garding had 5, while Callander, Stein and junior Kelsi Woods all finished with 2 points each. The loss finishes the Cubs regular season with a 6-18 record, while much improvement was witnessed over the course of the season. In the sub-section 5AA playoffs, Kimball was awarded a seven seed and will play their first-round game against Howard Lake at Howard Lake at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5.
