KAHS Speech Team on a winning streak

This past Saturday, the Kimball Speech Team traveled to Paynesville to claim their fourth trophy in four weeks. The team took second place in the medium-team category behind Eden Valley-Watkins. In the large-team category, Willmar took first place and BBE took second. In the small-school category, Minnewaska claimed first place honors, with Swanville taking second place. The tournament was the first in which the top eight students in each category compete in a final round. Making finals this week were Tyler Dockery, eighth place in Extemp. Speaking; Camen Miles and Kenzie Traurig, sixth and seventh places in Great Speeches; Shelby Schiefelbein and Abby Zoller, fifth and sixth places in Original Oratory, and Jenifer Gilpatrick, third place in Humorous. This week we had two category champions: Kelsey Vigoren won the Original Oratory category and Kyle Messer was champion in Serious Prose. Congratulations, Kimball Speech team. Next week, Kimball travels to Maple Lake for a "small and not-so-small program" meet; the bus leaves at 7:25 a.m.
