Washington, D.C.-U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar released the following statement praising the troops of the Minnesota Army National Guard's 34thRed Bull Infantry Division, who are leaving Minnesota for training for a one-year deployment to Iraq. The first group of soldiers left yesterday and the final group leaves today.
"Today, I join Minnesotans across the state in expressing our gratitude for your service and our prayers for a successful mission and a safe return as you prepare to deploy in support of U.S. operations in Iraq.
"Minnesota is a state where we wrap our arms around those who serve and sacrifice for us. We are deeply grateful-every day-for your service to our country as citizen-soldiers. It's a deep sacrifice for you and your families, but you're also fulfilling a profound duty and responsibility to the American people and the nation. Each one of you has found in yourself a duty to serve-and with your service, you follow in the great tradition of Minnesota citizen-soldiers who've done our state and our country proud in every battle. Today, we send up a prayer for your safety and success."
