Two Ridgewater instructors recognized for outstanding achievements

Two instructors at Ridgewater College have recently been recognized with awards for outstanding achievements in their fields.   Marjorie Nilssen, Art instructor at the college, has been awarded a Career Grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council (SMAHC).   This grant is to aid professional artists who have held significant solo shows and are at an advanced stage in their career development.  The funds will be used for art and framing supplies in preparation for an upcoming exhibit at Banfill-Locke Gallery in Minneapolis, Minn. Dennis Goehring, instructor in the college's Agriculture program, recently own the Region 5 Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award at the Minnesota Association of Agricultural Educators (MAAE Agriculture Technology Conference held January 16-17 in St. Cloud.  Dennis received the award because of the incredible impact he's had on his students.  The Outstanding Agriculture Education Teacher Award, sponsored by Syngenta, is a special project of the National FFA Foundation.  It distinguishes MAAE members who are conducting the highest quality agricultural education programs.  The award recognized leadership in civic, community, agriculture/agribusiness, and professional activities.
