A Party with a purpose raises exceptional funds

Local families in need will receive the food and shelter they need thanks to 550 generous Central Minnesotans and event sponsors who raised $90,000 for Catholic Charities Roaring Twenties Mardi Gras benefit January 31. Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf and DOMUS Transitional Housing are the beneficiaries of the annual party with a purpose featuring a silent auction, dining, dancing and socializing. Thanks to the generosity of guests adorned in beads and feathers from head to toe, flapper dresses and zoot suits, Catholic Charities will continue to meet the needs of an increasing number of community members. Catholic Charities Emergency Services has the area's largest food shelf serving more than 4,000 people a month - over 1,500 families were served in January, a 50-percent increase over January 2007.
