Viola Anderson, of Minneapolis, formerly of Kimball, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at the North Memorial Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Center. She was 94. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the North United Methodist Church, 4350 Fremont Ave N, Minneapolis, with Rev. Linda Koelman officiating. Burial followed in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends called from 5-7 p.m. Friday, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball, and one hour prior to services at the Church. Claudia Viola Anderson was born Sept. 12, 1914, in Dassel to Charles and Elsie (Hanson) Anderson. She was raised in Kimball and in 1934 moved to Minneapolis where she did housekeeping, worked at a defense plant, and then Iowa National Mutual Insurance Company where she worked for 24 years, retiring in 1976. She enjoyed cross-stitch and crocheting. She had great faith in her Lord and was a member of North United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers Hans and Carl, and sister Evelyn Thompson Holst. She is survived by a niece, Claudia (and Arlen) Houska of Finlayson; nephew, Alan (and Minako) Holst of Tel Aviv, Israel; great-nieces and great-nephews Julie, Wendy, Sakura, Mickey, and Daisuke; great-great niece and great-great nephews Brenda, Brian, Robert, and Joseph. Memorials are preferred to North United Methodist Church or Kimball United Methodist Church.
