Shirlee Nelson of South Haven died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, in St. Cloud. Mass of Christian Burial wwill be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale, with Fr. Michael Kwatera officiating. Entombment will be in St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church in Annandale. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Shirlee Ione Marie Nelson was born April 26, 1923, in Minneapolis to Albert W. and Eva (Dean) Breuninger. She married Millard H. Nelson Aug. 23, 1941, at St. Bridgett's Catholic Church in North Minneapolis. Shirlee worked as a bank teller at Bank of America in Oakland, Calif., during World War II, and Camden Bank in North Minneapolis after the war. The couple then moved to South Haven, where they raised their family. Shirlee was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale and South Haven VFW Post 7332 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and her family. Shirlee was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Diane Greely; sister Edna Nelson; and brother James Breuninger. Shirlee is survived by her husband of 67 years Millard; children Terry (and Patty) of Kimball, Tim (and JoAnne) of Rockford, Sheree Lee (and significant other Jim Schmitz) of South Haven and Mike (and Kris) of South Haven; sister Gayle Cichoski of Zimmerman; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great-great-grandchildren. Sarah Golez, pianist, and Alison Totz, soloist, will provide the music for the service.
